"Are you feeling lucky?
The earliest known female Nadirstani garment is a simple, but very large stretch of fur or fluffy wool, that's wound around the body like a kind of saree. Admittedly it's rather awkward and un-elegant, but it creates a snug cocoon that's an effective protection against the worst mountain gales - and against bad luck, according to some. In some regions the garment is nameless, but mostly it's referred to with a word that also means "woman". Many people believe there's a connection with the ancient pagan belief that the first woman was created out of a stretch of goat pelt or fox fur by a mountain demon; we need not mention the resulting superstition that a woman does best to look as much like her fluffy origin as possible, lest the gods might get annoyed by the sight of the demon's handiwork."
